Promotion of Organic Farming
Result: Small & marginal farmers have acquired the skills on organic farming strategy for their own food security

Exhibition of plantains, vegetables, medicinal plants, roots, fruits, etc.
25 Agricultural Officers and one scientist from Kerala Agricultural University, Vellayani, along with students from Agriculture Universities, visited organic farms to gain in-depth knowledge on organic practices.
All 480 beneficiaries acquired organic farming technology to ensure food security and sustainability. Highlights include:
- 1200 farmers adopted organic farming over 250 hectares
- 979 farmers engaged in cattle rearing, piggery, mushroom farming, etc.
- 118 farmers producing compost commercially
- 623 farmers producing & exchanging traditional seeds
- District Collector prohibited conversion of agricultural land for non-farming use
- District Administration established monthly “Farmer’s Grievance Day”
- Government introduced support schemes for organic farmers
Small and marginal farmers ensured food security, sustainability, and became pioneers in familiarizing organic farming strategies in Kanyakumari District.
