Community college Education:
Community college Education is a newly developed concept in Indian education system to release the excluded and the dropouts from the poverty through imparting employable skill training.

Evolution of Nanguneri Rural Community College:
Nanguneri is one of the most backward Taluks of Tirunelveli District in Tamilnadu. There are no technical education centres, Industries and have very little irrigation facilities. In order to get skillful training and gainful employment to the marginalized rural poor boys and girls, Rural Uplift Centre started Rural Community College at Nanguneri in the year 1999 with the animation of Dr. Fr. Xavier Alphonse, s.j., Director, ICRDCE, Chennai. Rural Community College (RCC) was approved by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), New Delhi and Tamil Nadu Open University to conduct Diploma and Certificate courses in the vocational stream. Vocational stream courses offered by the Community College are given below.

	Diploma in Computer Applications
	Diploma in Electrical Technician
	Diploma in Maintenance and Servicing of Homes Appliances (Electrical & Electronics)
	Computer Hardware
	Radio & T.V. Technician

	Bachelor Preparatory Programme (6 months)
	Associate Degree Programme in commuter application- (2 Years)
	Associate Applied Degree programme in Electronic - (2 Years)
	Bachelor of Commerce.
